Stone Town, Zanzibar. Cosmopolitan, contested by Portuguese, Arabs, Brits, Gujaratis, Swahili for hundreds of years. Spice, slaves, Sultans and now hipsters! UNESCO world heritage site, decay chic mixed with newly restored old palaces. Amazing doors πŸšͺ. πŸ’ͺπŸΏπŸ‘³πŸΎβ€β™€οΈπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ώ

Slavery Museum

Slavery – our collective shame, evidence that while Man’s spirit can soar higher than angels our greed and lust can also sink us far lower than animals. Stone Town’s Slavery Museum very poignantly records the slave trade and its eventual abolition (even that was politically and exploitatively motivated) only 150 years or so ago. Shock upon shock – the exhibit convincingly made the case that slavery has only been abolished in legal form … up to 36 million are in substance modern slaves in various forms today. Scary, shameful, #worthfightingfor πŸ˜”πŸ˜‘πŸ‘ŠπŸΏ
